The title of this blog is a quote from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
I'm trying to get motivated for Christmas...really I am, but its been a bit difficult to do this year. It has just been such an out of the ordinary year for me that I've been a little out of synch with with the holiday season. Additionally, I'm becoming more and more turned off by the "Disneyfication" of Christianity and the true meaning of Christmas that seems to grow every year.
Unfortunately, in true American style, for most people the spirit of Christmas can be best described in one word: "hurry". Next to a circus I don't think there is anything else that packs up and tears out faster than the true Christmas spirit. Perhaps the reason for this "come and go" spirit has to do with our various inabilities to express and show love. I think Harlan Miller describes it best when he said, "Probably the reason we all go so haywire at Christmas time with the endless unrestrained and often silly buying of gifts is that we don't quite know how to put our love into words."
In order to not end this entry on such a low note I'll share a website with y'all that I just came across this morning. I laughed so hard I cried when I saw this collection of pictures, perhaps because I too was once scared of Santa...and the Easter Bunny....trick-or-treating...the loud noises fire trucks made in the 4th of July parade...you get the idea. I hope you find it just as funny as I did.

Welcome to the land of Ho-Ho-Horros.
Remember kids, and in Santa Land no one can hear you scream.
He's comin' to town...he's comin' to get ya.
